Thousand Oaks water treatment plant marks renewable energy milestone

About four years ago, the City Council challenged the treatment plant to become completely self-sufficient, a vision of former Councilwoman Jacqui Irwin.

The superintendent of the plant, Chuck Rogers, remembers accepting that challenge.

“(Irwin) asked, ‘Can we get to 100 percent?’ and somewhat of my naiveté ... I said yes,” Rogers recalled.
