Disaster CalFresh Available for Impacted Residents and Workers

Households who lived or worked in declared disaster areas may be eligible for Disaster CalFresh benefits.

The following zipcodes impacted by the Palisades Fire are eligible if residents lived or worked in impacted areas on January 7: 90049, 91302, 91301, 90290, 90272, 90265, 90402, 90073, 90077, 90095, 90401, 90403, 90404, 91316, 91356, 91367, 91403, 91436, and 91340.

Apply for Disaster CalFresh food benefits between February 10 - 14 and February 18 - 19 by calling (866) 488-8482 (M-F 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.).


Covered California Offers More Time to Apply for Health Insurance

Individuals impacted by fires in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties may apply for health insurance now through March 8, 2025. Also known as a special enrollment period, Covered California offers impacted individuals extra time to apply for health and dental insurance for 2025 coverage.


Rain Impacts and Preparation

The City of Los Angeles is providing free sandbags to secure properties and mitigate risk of landslides during anticipated rainstorms.

Sandbags are available at multiple locations.


Debris Removal

Learn more about right of entry forms and homeowner options for managing debris removal from properties. The deadline to participate in the debris removal options is March 31, 2025.

Property owners can opt-in to the government-run Debris Removal Program by submitting a Right of Entry (ROE) form to authorize the government to manage debris removal from their property.

To opt-out and manage cleanup independently, complete an opt-out form online and apply for a permit from the County to handle debris removal on your own.


Reputable Contractors

Remember to utilize a licensed contractor. Impacted residents are encouraged to utilize The Contractors State License Board (CSLB) website to verify licensing information.


Federal Assistance Available

Individuals and businesses owners who sustained losses in the designated areas can apply for assistance today online or by calling 1-800-621-3362.

If your letter says "Not Approved", it does not mean you have been denied assistance. FEMA may need your insurance determination to be finalized in order to continue processing your application to ensure you are not receiving aid for the same damage twice. Remember, you have a right to appeal FEMA's decision.

FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers

Disaster Recovery Centers are open in Los Angeles County to assist impacted residents who have experienced damage to their primary home or personal property. Learn about the application process, speak to federal and state support staff and how to navigate the appeals process.

American Red Cross Immediate Financial Assistance

The American Red Cross will begin outreach to specific individuals whose primary residents were located within the perimeters of the Palisades Fire. Individuals who are eligible of this assistance will receive invitations through email, text or phone call.

If you receive an invitation to complete an application for financial assistance, you can complete the entire process virtually by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767).


Important Water Updates

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) issued a Do Not Drink Notice to communities near Pacific Palisades. Search your address below to verify if you may be impacted.

LADWP is providing bottled water to affected customers at water distribution locations. Click below for locations.

Shelters Available for Displaced Residents

The California's Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is coordinating with several California state agencies and local governments to ensure displaced residents have access to shelters and vital services.


Housing and Transportation Assistance

Several non-profit organizations, associations and housing options are available across Los Angeles County for displaced residents.


Small Business Loans Available

Low-interest federal disaster loans are now available for Southern California businesses, homeowners, renters and nonprofits impacted by wildfires and straight-line winds beginning January 7, 2025, covering Los Angeles and neighboring counties. Applicants can access financial assistance for property repairs, working capital and personal losses through SBA.gov or by contacting the SBA for further support.


Check Your Property Status

Los Angeles County residents can review the status of their properties through an online, interactive map tool that provides assessments and photographs. This map is continuously being updated. If there is no color icon at your address, it means the building inspection is still pending.


Misfortune and Calamity Tax Relief

Property damaged or destroyed by windstorms and/or wildfires may qualify for temporary property tax relief through the Los Angeles County Assessor Misfortune and Calamity program.


Free Access to Vital and Property Records

Impacted residents can request free vital and property records, such as birth, death and marriage certificates. Contact (800) 201-8999 and select Option 1, followed by Option 2 or email recorder@rrcc.lacounty.gov.


EDD Unemployment Benefits Waiting Period Waived

The Employment Development Department has waived the one-week waiting period for regular unemployment benefit claims for individuals impacted by fires. The fastest way to apply for unemployment benefits is through the myEDD app.

Employers affected by the wildfires may request up to two-month extension from EDD to file state payroll reports and/or deposit state payroll taxes without penalty or interest.


Emergency Prescription Assistance Program

Uninsured individuals whose prescriptions and/or medical equipment were lost, stolen or destroyed because of wildfires may file a claim at more than 62,000 retail pharmacies through the Emergency Prescription Assistance Program (EPAP).


Free DMV Assistance

The Department of Motor Vehicles is available at local Disaster Recovery Centers in Pasadena and Los Angeles to assist impacted residents with document replacement.


Mental Health Support

Natural disasters can take a toll on mental health. Even if you are not directly impacted, you may know someone who is. Mental health services are available.


Mandatory One-Year Moratorium on Insurance Non-Renewals and Cancellations

California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara issued a mandatory one-year moratorium on insurance non-renewals and cancellations for zip codes in areas directly affected by the Eaton and Palisades fires.

Search your Zip code and fire name.


Consumer Alert: Wildfire Recovery Insurance Information

The California Department of Insurance is on alert for potential fraud and illegal actions targeting survivors of wildfires. The Department has posted a Don't Get Scammed after a Disaster resource urging consumers not to rush into decisions and report any suspected illegal actions. Learn how to avoid scams and fraud during the insurance claim process.


IRS Tax Deadline Extension

The Internal Revenue Service is extending the deadline filing deadline for taxpayers and businesses impacted by Southern California wildfires to October 15, 2025.

Taxpayers have the option of reconstructing records after a disaster. The more accurately a loss is estimated, the more loan and/or grant money may be available. The IRS may waive the $43 user fee to obtain transcripts and returns. You must write the appropriate disaster designation, such as "Palisades Fire", in red letters across the top of Forms 4506-T and 4506.


Report Suspected Price Gouging

Price gouging during a state of emergency is illegal. The Los Angeles County Department of Consumer and Business Affairs (DCBA) advises business owners, lodging operators and businesses associated with any declared emergency in LA County that they must stay in compliance with state and Los Angeles County laws that protect consumers from price gouging.
