CompTIA, a technology association, presented Assemblywoman Jacqui Irwin, D-Thousand Oaks, with the 2018 CompTIA California Tech Champion Award, citing consistent leadership and support of the technology industry in the California Legislature.
This past year, Irwin was instrumental in promoting thoughtful technology policy legislation with an eye toward stimulating more innovation and job creation in California, the association said in a news release. She also has become an invaluable resource and tech expert for her fellow Assembly members and other state legislators across the country as the chair of the National Conference of State Legislators’ Cybersecurity Task Force, the association said.
Kelly Hitt, CompTIA’s director, state government affairs, said, “We are thrilled” to present Irwin with the honor for her continued efforts and support of the technology industry and tech jobs in California.
Irwin said: “Since my first term in the Legislature, I have focused on making sure tech policy is thoughtful and works to benefit all Californians. The help of many partners, including CompTIA, has made these tech policy wins possible for the people of California. I am deeply honored by this award.”
Since 1991, CompTIA has been recognizing state legislators for their contributions to the success of high technology.
