(Sacramento, CA) – “The Trump administration’s decision to redirect necessary funding from the military is short-sighted and unnecessarily risky,” said Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin. “I’m disappointed that the president did not keep his promise to secure funding from elsewhere for his wall project. The C-130 flight simulator intended for the Channel Islands Air National Guard Station would have contributed to the state’s ability to respond effectively and decisively to disasters, including wildfires, and denying these funds both harms our readiness and denies training opportunities to our service members that could very well help reduce the risks they face to protect us.
