SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D – Thousand Oaks) released the following statement today after the California State Assembly approved the 2020-21 Budget Act.
"The budget we passed today addresses a number of uncertainties facing the state. Since the state pushed out the 2019 income tax due date, and there are on-going discussions at the federal level that could provide some relief to the state, it would be premature to pass a budget that included harmful cuts to services that are desperately needed during this pandemic. If revenues or federal support do not materialize, this budget includes trigger cuts to responsibly balance the budget while minimizing, to the extent possible, the impacts to K-12 and higher education.
