(Camarillo) — When Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D-Thousand Oaks) was elected, she met with CSU Channel Islands President Rush to ask him what the needs of the University were. His response was that the needs of the community were for an engineering program. With the needs of the community identified, Asm. Irwin worked with stakeholders and legislators to secure money in the California State Budget to provide funding for the creation of a new school of engineering and 'Mechatronics degree'. The new school is set to open in 2018. Learn more in this clip from Assembly Access.
