Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin Hosts Press Conference on CalABLE Implementation

Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin and former California State Treasurer John Chiang announced the roll out of CalABLE (Achieving a Better Life Experience) Accounts. These special accounts, which were created by Assemblymember Irwin’s 2015 bill AB 449, are designed to help those with disability related expenses save for future expenses without losing access to critical benefits.

Assemblymember Irwin Announces Funding for Rice Avenue Grade Separation Overpass Project

(Oxnard, CA)  – Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D-Thousand Oaks) was joined by local dignitaries for a press conference to announce that $68 million has been allocated for the Rice Avenue Grade Separation Overpass project- one of the top three most dangerous street intersections in California. For years, it has been the site of several fatal train crashes. “When I was elected in 2014, I pledged to make Ventura County my priority every single day. That is why I am so proud to make the announcement that funding was approved for Rice Avenue,” said Assemblymember Irwin.

Assemblymember Irwin Hosts Successful 2nd Annual Be Prepared Safety Fair

(Thousand Oaks, CA) - Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D-Thousand Oaks) held the 2nd Annual Be Prepared Safety Fair on May 19, 2018 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Park. There were booths, displays, demonstrations, K9’s, safety vehicles and a drive-in car seat safety check station. “We are trying to give the citizens of this community, the equipment they need to stay safe,” said Assemblymember Irwin. “It is very important that when an emergency happens, they know how to protect themselves because it may be a while before help comes along.” Here’s more from the Safety Fair in this Assembly Access video.

Irwin Hosting 2nd Annual Be Prepared Safety Fair

(Thousand Oaks, CA) – Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D-Thousand Oaks) is hosting a free, family friendly safety fair on May 19th. In addition to the emergency preparedness booths and demonstrations there will be bike safety specialists and child car seat experts on hand. Plus, free hands only CPR training. Protecting our Children's Identity

(Sacramento) – Legislation authored by Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D-Thousand Oaks) to protect children from identity theft is being implemented. Assembly Bill 1580 allows a parent, legal guardian or conservator to freeze the credit of a child under the age of 16. This is a significant step forward because credit bureaus do not typically shield a child’s credit record unless it has already been stolen. Now the State Attorney General Xavier Becerra is distributing a parent handbook on how to protect their children’s identities. During a joint news conference with the Attorney General Assemblymember Irwin said, “Parents now have one more tool to protect their children from identity theft.” Learn more in this Assembly Access video.
