A new measure requiring manufacturers to develop a collection program for batteries and rechargeable devices would cut risks of toxic exposures to humans and the environment.

“California has a long history of celebrating the unique qualities of our coastline, with our state leading the country in promoting access and protection of our surfing zones,” Assemblymember Irwin told the News-Press. “This designation will serve to recognize the cultural, historical, economic and ecological importance of surf zones that make our Golden State proud to be home to some of the world’s best surf destinations.”

As Ventura County’s Clerk-Recorder and Registrar of Voters, the services my team and I provide are essential to the functioning of our community members’ lives. When the pandemic first hit last March, we had to quickly adjust to ensure that these services remained uninterrupted. Fortunately, when it came to providing copies of vital records, our office was able to easily transition as we had a remote identity verification program in place prior to the pandemic that allows community members to submit online requests.

A trip to the grocery store, a long bike ride through a park, a stroll through our neighborhoods. These are the precious trips we have all come to look forward to during the recent stay-at-home orders.
