SACRAMENTO – Today when the California State Assembly opened its 2019-2020 legislative session Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin introduced Assembly Bill 12 in response to the Borderline Shooting. Speaker Anthony Rendon referenced the Thousand Oaks shooting in his opening remarks to the body, empowering members to work to solve the pressing issues of their communities.
The bill is the first bill introduction for Assemblymember Irwin since being re-elected last month to her third term, and follows a month of mourning, remembrance, and contemplation since the shooting on November 7th. “This tragedy demands action, and I am working with our dedicated law enforcement and mental health professionals to identify changes to state law that will protect our community and all Californians from gun violence,” said Assemblymember Irwin.

SACRAMENTO – Assembly Bill 2377, authored by Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D-Thousand Oaks), was signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown last week. This bill funds technical assistance for farmers and ranchers seeking to transition to Climate Smart Agriculture.
SACRAMENTO – Governor Brown has signed AB 2503, legislation by Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D- Thousand Oaks) that creates an efficient process to dissolve businesses and comply with the tax code.
SACRAMENTO – AB 1906, authored by Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D- Thousand Oaks), was signed by Governor Jerry Brown last week, after passing the Legislature last month with bipartisan support.
SACRAMENTO – AB 3212 authored by Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D – Thousand Oaks) will aim to expand consumer protections to active duty personnel stationed in the state. Attorney General Becerra sponsored the bill and worked closely with Assemblymember Irwin to shepherd it through the Legislature.
SACRAMENTO – AB 2719, authored by Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D- Thousand Oaks), was signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown last week. This new law adds sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression to the definition of elderly communities to be given priority consideration for programs and services administered through the California Department of Aging.
SACRAMENTO – AB 2325, by Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D – Thousand Oaks), prevents counties from denying county mental or behavioral health services to eligible veterans, was signed by the Governor this week.
