While recent rains have been welcomed in a state ravaged by one of the worst droughts on record, they have hit some neighborhoods hard, such as Camarillo Springs, state Sen. Hannah-Beth Jackson, D-Santa Barbara, said during Wednesday’s tour. Jackson was joined by Rep. Julia Brownley, D-Westlake Village, and Assemblywoman Jacqui Irwin, D-Thousand Oaks.
(Sacramento) – Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D-Thousand Oaks) was formally sworn into office during a special organizational session of the California State Assembly. Assemblymember Irwin says she is very proud to be serving the people of the 44th Assembly District. She says the state has many challenges to overcome and she is ready to get to work, “I think it’s very important that we support higher education, pre-school education and K through 12 education and make sure kids are getting better educational outcomes.” Here’s more from Assemblymember Irwin in this Assembly Access video.
Top priorities include safe, livable communities for all Californians
(SACRAMENTO) - Jacqui Irwin (D-Thousand Oaks) was sworn in as the Assemblymember for the 44th Assembly District.
“Today was exciting, but it is time to get to work,” said Assemblymember Irwin. “The business of creating jobs and improving schools for all Californians cannot wait.”
Irwin, a former Thousand Oaks City Council Member and Mayor, also worked for Teledyne Systems as an engineer. Prior to that, she worked at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.
The 44th Assembly District is comprised of the communities of Camarillo, Casa Conejo, Channel Islands Beach, El Rio, Lake Sherwood, Moorpark, Oak Park, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, Santa Rosa Valley, Thousand Oaks, and Westlake Village. The ceremony was held on the Assembly Floor at the State Capitol.
The oath of office was administered by Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of California Goodwin Liu.
