(Sacramento) – Not long after she was elected in the 2014 election Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D-Thousand Oaks) was a guest on the cable news program California Edition. Host Brad Pomerance asked Assemblymember Irwin to talk about  the differences between serving on a five member local city council (in Thousand Oaks) and the 80 member State Assembly, her new role as Chair of the Assembly Committee on Veterans Affairs and education funding. Irwin Appointed to Commission on the Status of Women and Girls

Assemblymember also set to serve on State Public Works Board, Inter-Agency Council on Vets, Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children

(Sacramento, CA) – Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D-Thousand Oaks) today announced her appointment to the State Commission on the Status of Women and Girls.  Irwin was appointed by Assembly Speaker Toni G. Atkins to the Commission, a nonpartisan state agency that works to promote equality and justice for all women and girls in California

“Women have clearly come a long way, but there is still much work to be done,” said Assemblymember Irwin.  “It is an honor to serve on this Commission as an advocate for economic justice, educational equality, access to health care and many other critical issues affecting women and girls.”

Thousand Oaks water treatment plant marks renewable energy milestone

About four years ago, the City Council challenged the treatment plant to become completely self-sufficient, a vision of former Councilwoman Jacqui Irwin.

The superintendent of the plant, Chuck Rogers, remembers accepting that challenge.

“(Irwin) asked, ‘Can we get to 100 percent?’ and somewhat of my naiveté ... I said yes,” Rogers recalled.

Assemblymember Irwin Announces $2 million in Tax Credits Awarded to Local Businesses

Over $20 Million Awarded Statewide

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin (D-Thousand Oaks) today announced that $2 million in tax credits was awarded to Oasis Technology, Inc. a computer systems design & consulting services firm in Camarillo, CA.  With the support of the tax credit, Oasis will add 357 additional full time employees in Assembly District 44 through the California Competes Tax Credit program.

“I would like to congratulate Oasis Technology on receiving this California Competes Tax Credit award. Our region will benefit tremendously from the additional full time jobs. Our hope is that this program continues to lead to job growth in California.”

While recent rains have been welcomed in a state ravaged by one of the worst droughts on record, they have hit some neighborhoods hard, such as Camarillo Springs, state Sen. Assemblymember Irwin says she is very proud to be serving the people of the 44th Assembly District. Irwin Takes Oath as Newest Assemblymember for 44th District

Top priorities include safe, livable communities for all Californians

(SACRAMENTO) -  Jacqui Irwin (D-Thousand Oaks) was sworn in as the Assemblymember for the 44th Assembly District.

“Today was exciting, but it is time to get to work,” said Assemblymember Irwin. “The business of creating jobs and improving schools for all Californians cannot wait.”

Irwin, a former Thousand Oaks City Council Member and Mayor, also worked for Teledyne Systems as an engineer. Prior to that, she worked at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.

The 44th Assembly District is comprised of the communities of Camarillo, Casa Conejo, Channel Islands Beach, El Rio, Lake Sherwood, Moorpark, Oak Park, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, Santa Rosa Valley, Thousand Oaks, and Westlake Village. The ceremony was held on the Assembly Floor at the State Capitol.

The oath of office was administered by Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of California Goodwin Liu.
